Alumni Relations Manager- Alumni and Advancement Department

Job Purpose

The Alumni Relations Manager plays a key role in fostering strong relationships between the university and its alumni community. This position requires an experienced professional who excels in communication and relationship management, both internally and externally. The Alumni Relations Manager will be responsible for engaging alumni through various channels, coordinating alumni events, and collaborating with stakeholders to enhance alumni involvement and support.

Job Responsibilities

- Develop and implement strategies to effectively engage alumni and strengthen their connection to the university.

- Serve as the primary point of contact for alumni inquiries, requests, and feedback.

- Build and maintain relationships with alumni volunteers, affinity groups, and alumni association leaders to facilitate meaningful engagement opportunities.

- Collaborate with academic departments, student services, and other university units to involve alumni in mentoring, career development, and student support initiatives.

- Coordinate alumni events, including reunions, networking receptions, and professional development workshops, to provide opportunities for alumni to connect and engage with each other and with the university.

- Manage communication channels, such as alumni newsletters, social media platforms, and online communities, to keep alumni informed about university news, events, and opportunities for involvement.

- Identify and cultivate potential donors among alumni and engage them in philanthropic initiatives.

- Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to develop and distribute alumni-focused content and promotional materials.

- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall mission and goals of the alumni department.

Job Requirements

Educational Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.

Experience

- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in alumni relations, donor relations, customer relationship management or related fields.

Technical Skills

- Familiarity with alumni databases and CRM systems is a plus.

- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

- Knowledge of best practices in alumni relations and engagement.
