Simulation Model

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ»ÆÆ¬ announced COP27 Simulation Model declarations,  at the COP27 Global Youth Statement, as part of the University participation, today, Thursday 10th November 2022, in the activities of the “Science and Youth Day” at COP27, held in Sharm El-Sheikh from 6 to 18 November, under the auspices of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, where the university participated in 10 sessions and organized two sessions in cooperation with United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in the Green Zone and the Blue Zone, and had 250 students participating and helping in the organaisation of COP27.

The COP27 Simulation Model was organized by the University in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program, from 18 to 20 last October, and was done under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the High-level Climate Champion H.E. Mahmoud Mohieldin in collaboration with UNDP Egypt. Where around 130 students from 24 countries worldwide participated in the Model.

The COP27 Simulation final stage saw the adoption of a declaration consisting of 5 articles. The first one addressed the issue of intellectual property rights and proposed a mechanism that would allow developing nations to access to state of the art technology. The second dealt with mitigation and consisted of a plan that would see developing countries mitigating their carbon practices by investing in green energy sources in developing countries. The third article proposed that ecocide be declared an international crime prosecutable by the office of the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court. The fourth article advocated for the creation of a fund that would mobilise needs-based finance for climate induced loss and damage. The final article called for the substantial cancellation of developing countries' sovereign debt that would lessen the burden on their national economies.
