Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ»ÆÆ¬ Welcomes Australian Ambassador H.E. Dr. Axel Wabenhorst
Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ»ÆÆ¬ had the honour of welcoming the Australian Ambassador to Egypt, H.E. Dr. Axel Wabenhorst, for a visit focused on strengthening academic and research collaborations.
During his visit, Ambassador Wabenhorst met with Professor Mohamed Loutfi, President and Vice-Chancellor, and Professor Yehia Bahei-El-Din, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice President for Research and Enterprise. Discussions centred on the university’s international accreditation, highly qualified academic staff recognised by Advance HE, and its growing global research impact. Professor Mostafa Shazly, Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research, highlighted the Science Park’s contributions to community development and innovation.
The ambassador also met with Professor Shadia Fahim, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, to explore opportunities for internationalisation, research collaboration, and student exchange programmes.
Additionally, the visit included discussions on strengthening ties with the Research Centre for Irish Studies (RCIS) at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ»ÆÆ¬, where the ambassador explored possibilities for promoting Australian Irish Studies as part of the centre’s global outreach, led by Associate Professor Rania Rafik Khalil.
Coinciding with St Patrick’s Day celebrations, the visit marked the beginning of a promising academic partnership between the university and the Australian Embassy in Egypt, fostering future cooperation in education and research.
