Trip to National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation

On the 10th of March 2022, the students of the Making of Modern Egypt (Political Science Department) and the Economics of Egypt (Economics Department) modules went on a joint trip to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation to explore Egyptian history with a focus on its political and economic dimensions in different eras.

The students were accompanied by a tour-guide who walked them through the different phases of Egyptian history starting from the Ancient Egyptian Civilisation of the Pharaohs up until Dynasties of Muhammad Ali and his successors. The students engaged in a Q&A with the tour-guide about the Era of the Mamluks and Ottomans’ rule in Egypt, which they are currently studying in the module. After the guided-tour, the students visited the Royal Mummies Hall and enjoyed a free tour where they got to further explore and discuss the artefacts in the Museum. Finally, students bonded over a traditional Egyptian meal of Koshary.
