ARELEN Board Meeting at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research
Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ was honoured by our President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mohamed Loutfi, participating in the board meeting of the Arab European Leadership Network in Higher Education (ARELEN), that took place at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to explore the benefits that emerge through collaboration and partnerships across the globe.
H.E. Professor Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, hosted H.E. Professor Amr Salama, Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities and Chairman of the Board of Directors of ARELEN, Professor David Lock, Secretary-General of the Magna Charta Observatory, and Professor Mohamed Loutfi, our President and Vice-Chancellor and the Vice President of ARELEN, on 30th October 2024.
His Excellency’s goal was to highlight the importance of exchanging experiences and ideas between Arab and European Universities, in light of the changing landscape of higher education—a testament that is closely shared by the purpose of our University. Throughout this meeting, the attendees discussed the opening of further channels of communication and points of convergence with partners from different countries in order to reach a certain level of development. This encapsulates the role of Egypt in achieving its Vision 2030 and the goal of enhancing higher education throughout the Arab region.
The ARELEN board meeting aimed to navigate the educational pathways that exist between public, civil, private, and technical universities, as well as how international university partnerships and degrees open up new prospects to fulfil national and international job market requirements. Internationalisation in higher education, as represented by ARELEN, produces a generation of highly qualified young people according to the globally recognized best practices. ARELEN also functions in a particularly significant area in the field of leadership and capacity building among university presidents. This works to train these esteemed figures in the ways to manage academic institutions in accordance with the highest quality standards.
H.E. Professor Salama reviewed the integrity of the aims of ARELEN, its vision of supporting academic cooperation between higher education institutions in the Arab world and Europe, and its role in promoting the exchange of best practices, capacity-building, and innovative solutions to contemporary educational challenges. Likewise, Professor Lock emphasised the need to form sustainable and productive partnerships by expanding the areas of cooperation between universities in Europe and the Arab world. Professor Loutfi then addressed the network’s future plans to support Egypt’s higher education strategy, following Egypt’s Vision 2030, and to prepare for ongoing work with Arab universities to enhance their potential and achieve their full capabilities.
