Comparative Literary & Cultural Studies MA Programme

The Faculty of Arts & Humanities offers an M. A. in Comparative Literary & Cultural Studies programme that is characterized by inter-disciplinary, innovative fields that provide opportunities for up-to-date, market relevant research areas, as well as career opportunities. The M. A. in Comparative Literary & Cultural Studies degree is offered as a full-time, four-term programme. In the first term, students study four core modules and in the second one, they study three electives with a combined weight of twenty-one credits (three credit hours each), delivered over two fifteen week semesters; where week thirteen is a revision week, and weeks fourteen and fifteen are final assessment weeks. The last two terms are dedicated to working on the thesis (total 21 credit hours). The total number of credit hours for the whole programme is 42.

Rules and Required Documents

Registration in the Comparative Literary and Cultural Studies programme requires BA or BSc degree in English with Grade “C” (Good) from a university accredited by the Supreme Council of Universities.

English Level:

Students who are not holders of a Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ»ÆÆ¬ (or any other English speaking University) Undergraduate Degree must obtain an English level of 6.5 in Academic IELTS or 550 in TOEFL.

Military service (for males):

Certificate of military service completion or exemption for a minimum of 2 years.

Required documents:

  • Original BA certificate or Postgraduate diploma certificate.
  • Accreditation from the Supreme Council of Universities for Graduates of Academies and Higher Institutes offering BA or BSc. degrees (N/A for Universities’ Graduates).
  • Original transcript.
  • Original IELTS certificate.
  • Original birth certificate.
  • A copy of the National ID (for Egyptians) or Passport (for non-Egyptians).
  • 4 personal photos (4X6).
  • Original certificate of military service (for Egyptians males).
