Economics Department Coordinates BaSEF Summer School
The Economic Department at the Faculty of Business Administration, Economics, and Political Sciences at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ»ÆÆ¬ has the honour of co-organising BaSEF (Building a Sustainable Energy Future), which was supported by the DAAD, and has made significant progress this year with the launch of a summer school programme in Cologne, Germany. This programme, which took place from August 14th to August 18th, 2023, brought together about 30 students from Egypt and Germany.
The key focus of the programme, titled "Energy Transition Towards Sustainability: Renewable Energies and Energy Market Design," was to explore renewable energy solutions for a more sustainable future, with a specific emphasis on the development of hydrogen markets in Egypt and Germany, as well as the potential of hydrogen as an energy carrier and opportunities for global hydrogen trade.
Among the distinguished speakers who shared their expertise during the five-day programme were Professor Ahmed Abdel Azim and Ms Basma Khaled from the Faculty of Business Administration, Economics, and Economics Department. They were joined by Professor Moustafa Oraby from the American University in Cairo, Mr Tobias Sprenger and Ms Nada Fadl from the Institute of Energy Economics (EWI), Ms Nicole Conde from the University of Cologne, Mr Ephraim Ogbonna from the University of Ibadan, Mr Rolf Behrndt from the German Association for International Cooperation (GIZ), and Professor Werner Antweiler from the University of British Columbia.
The participation from our University comprised both postgraduate and undergraduate students from various faculties, including the Faculty of Business Administration, Economics and Political Science, the Faculty of Engineering, and the Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering.
