Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ Celebrates Global Unity at International Culture Day

Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ came alive as students, staff, and guests gathered to celebrate culture, connection, and community at International Culture Day. The campus transformed into a vibrant agora of traditions, with students from over 20 countries proudly sharing their heritage through traditional dress, music, dance, and, of course, delicious food. Organised by the Student Recruitment & Partnerships team, alongside the Student Union, Rotaract, and Rotary, the event was more than just a festival; it was a heartfelt celebration of diversity and human connection.

We also had the pleasure of welcoming distinguished guests, including Ambassador El Khan Poloukuv of Azerbaijan, Ambassador Ezzedin Tago of the Philippines, and Ambassador Kasongo Musenga of the Democratic Republic of Congo in Egypt. Other notable attendees included Mr. Ismail Ibeid, Cultural and Academic Attaché at the Libyan Embassy; Dr. Saleem Al-Taloul, Head of University Affairs and Student Activities at the Palestinian Embassy; Mr. Hei Yanhai, Deputy Director of the China Cultural Centre in Cairo; and Mr. Ibrahim AlJarari, President of the Libyan Students’ Union in Egypt. Additionally, representatives from the Malaysian, Swedish, and Congolese embassies were present. Their attendance underscored the significance of cultural exchange, not just within the University but on a global scale.

Throughout the event, cultural booths became a gateway to the world, with Egypt, the United Kingdom, Palestine, Syria, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Libya, the Philippines, Azerbaijan, and many more showcasing their traditions. These booths were not only hosted by international students but also by other students eager to experience and engage with different cultures, trying on traditional attire, tasting authentic dishes, and learning about customs and traditions firsthand. Students and visitors strolled through the campus, laughing and greeting each other with cheerful “Hello,” “Salam,” “Hola,” “Bonjour,” and “Namaste,” embracing the spirit of global unity and making friends as they go.

What made International Culture Day truly special was not just the flags, the performances, or the food—it was the people. It was the stories shared between students who come from different backgrounds but found common ground in their traditions and cultures. At its heart, the day was about unity. It served as a reminder that while people may come from different places, speak different languages, or celebrate different customs, they are all connected by the same human spirit. With International Culture Day, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ reaffirms its commitment to internationalisation, aiming to foster a globally connected community while extending its academic excellence and cultural richness to students and institutions worldwide.
