Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ Students Meet Nobel Peace Prize Laureate

Esteemed Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Professor Muhammad Yunus, recently met with a group of students from Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ during their participation in a student exchange programme facilitated by the University in collaboration with Daffodil International University in Bangladesh.

The students were bestowed with an unprecedented opportunity to engage with Professor Yunus, who provided invaluable guidance and encouraged them to seize the opportunities presented by their educational institution. The discussions encompassed a wide range of topics, including the development of entrepreneurial skills through exposure to successful experiences in other developing countries, the impact of evolving socio-economic conditions, and the empowerment of underprivileged communities. These subjects are integral parts of the community service programmes offered at Daffodil International University.

Such a remarkable interaction is the fruitful outcome of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Professor Mohammed Loutfi, President and Vice-Chancellor of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ, and Dr Md Sabur Khan, Chairman of Daffodil International University. The MoU encompasses student and staff exchanges, research collaboration, and the sharing of expertise. This also comes in the light of the close fraternal friendship that brings together Professor Loutfi and Dr Khan who adopt common ideas to further develop bilateral areas of cooperation, consistent with the strategy of both universities. These collaborative initiatives are fundamental to Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ’s dedication to providing its students with opportunities to engage with global leaders and intellectuals who inspire them to excel and make a difference.

It should be recalled that, in 2006, Professor Muhammad Yunus was awarded the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize, in conjunction with his remarkable work at Grameen Bank, widely recognised as the "Banker to the Poor." Professor Yunus, the founder of Grameen Bank, has dedicated his life to demonstrating that individuals from impoverished backgrounds have the right to access loans. He received the Nobel Peace Prize for his pioneering efforts in establishing Grameen Bank, which aims to provide small loans to the underprivileged on favourable terms.

Given the above, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ remains steadfast in its mission to foster a nurturing environment for its students, granting them the opportunity to engage with distinguished figures such as Professor Muhammad Yunus. By facilitating international exchanges and collaborations, the university seeks to equip its students with the knowledge, skills, and global perspectives necessary to become future leaders and change-makers.
