The Law of Torts Workshop
A glimpse of the Law of Torts workshop delivered by Professor Gabriel Goodwin, the visiting professor at the Faculty of Law, British University in Egypt and the director of the International Legal Studies at the University of Indiana at Bloomington School of Law.
During the workshop, Prof Goodwin divided degree year one students into groups and asked each group to creat a hypothetical case that stems from one of the real cases they have studied on “Negligence” across the module. After that, each group presented its own case facts, legal rules, reasoning, and decision. Finally, all groups were asked to prepare and submit counter arguments to the cases presented by the rest of groups. This workshop aimed at reinforcing students’ understanding of torts law through hands on experience that simulates real life cases.
This type of activities is the epitome of “Law in Action”, aligning perfectly with the vision of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ Faculty of Law which considers the “Practice of Law” as the cornerstone of legal education that must go hand in hand with teaching the “Legal Theory”.
