Academic Advice and Support

This unit is responsible for the following activities:

• Advice students on the University’s academic regulations and relevant procedures.
• Answer students’ queries on relevant academic regulations matters
• Deal with students’ complaints as per the University’s complaints policy and process. 

• Impaired Performance (IP): If you have experienced serious or severe problems, or events beyond your control which have unpleasantly affected your performance in an assessment, or which have prevented you from completing an assessment, If you have missed or your performance was affected during any of the assessments due to unexpected circumstances such as (illness, passing away of close relatives or friends or accidents or any other valid reason) you should report the issue through the IP procedure.

Follow the below process to submit an IP:
o IPs should be submitted only online through this link following an announcement made by AS: (using only Google Chrome browser)
o Any IPs submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.
o It is the student’s responsibility to make sure the form is completed fully and accurately.
o An IP submitted for medical issues will not be considered if it is not supported by the British University in Egypt’s clinic.
o The IPs system is opened three times during the Academic Year in Semester 1, Semester 2 and during the Summer Assessment Period for a specific time. All IPs must be submitted during the announced period. 

• Academic Misconduct (AMC): Students should consider the below points to avoid receiving an Academic Misconduct Penalty:
o Failing to comply with the Rules for the Conduct of Students in Examination Halls.
o Assisting another student to gain an advantage by unfair means or receiving such assistance during the Examination halls.
o If your mobile phone or any electronic device is found with you (even if it is switched off), your exam will be reported as an Academic Misconduct offence which will result in awarding a mark of zero in your exam.
o Plagiarism, which is defined by the University as ‘submitting work as the student’s own of which the student is not the author or if the student gives his own work to another student’ is considered as Misconduct too. 
o The offences of the Misconduct are mentioned below:
• First offence: Zero mark for the component, Formal reprimand.
• Second offence: Zero mark in the module, Formal reprimand.
• Third offence or more: Zero mark in the module, no opportunity to re-sit the module in the same academic year and Refer to Disciplinary Committee.

• Academic Appeal: Appeals are only submitted on the following grounds: 
o Procedural irregularity, prejudice, or bias in the conduct of an assessment.
o Against the decision made by one of the faculty committees, i.e., IP panel or Academic Misconduct panel.
o For circumstances that have impaired your performance, you will need to mention a valid reason for not notifying about these circumstances through Impaired Performance (IP).
o Appeals submitted after the published deadline announced by AS will not be accepted, you can submit an Appeal through this link: (using only Google Chrome browser)
o Appeals submitted against Academic Judgment (marks awarded) will not be considered.
o The Appeal system is opened after announcing the results of Semester 1, Semester 2, and the Summer Assessment Period. 

• Enquiries (Mark Change): After announcing the results on the SRS, students are allowed to submit an Enquiry only online through this link following an announcement made by AS (using only Google Chrome browser)
o The mark entry check / Enquiry is submitted to request a check for possible human error in the mark entry, it is not a request for remarking or re-evaluating the student’s work.
o The Enquiry’s system is opened after announcing the results of Semester 1, Semester 2, and the Summer Assessment Period.
o The student should pay the requested amount of money for each module to consider his enquiry. 

• For enquiries, please pay through the treasury office located on the ground floor of Building E or the following banks:
