Information Technology Law Moot Court

The Faculty of Law at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ»ÆÆ¬ is set to host the first regional Information Technology Law Moot Court Competition on the 10th of August 2024 and till the 14th of August. This landmark event will feature twenty-three teams from the Middle East and Africa, focusing on Information Technology Law and International Humanitarian Law.

The competition will kick off with an opening ceremony and a conference featuring distinguished speakers and VIP guests. The event provides a platform for legal professionals and attendees to engage in vital discussions on issues related to technology and humanitarian law.

Leading experts in Information Technology Law and International Humanitarian Law will share valuable insights into the current legal landscape; their presence will highlight the significance of this inaugural competition.

Teams from the Middle East and Africa, showcasing some of the region's brightest legal talents, will compete. The event is open to the public, with legal enthusiasts and students encouraged to attend. Newcomers already enrolled in the Faculty of Law at The British University can attend for free.

The Moot Court Competition will tackle issues relating to cybersecurity and social media liability during conflicts. The competition brings together law students, academics, practitioners, and judges to argue a hypothetical case and share their expertise.

Since its inception in 2020, the competition has expanded from internal to national and now regional levels. The primary aim is to educate future legal practitioners and academics about Information Technology Law while providing a forum for cultural exchange and networking.

Participating universities include institutions from Palestine, Iraq, UAE, Lebanon, Zimbabwe, Kenya, and  South Africa. Fourteen Egyptian universities will also take part, including Alexandria University, Cairo University, Ain Shams University, and Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ»ÆÆ¬, and many more. 

 This competition promises to be both educational and inspiring, offering a unique opportunity to engage with pressing legal issues and network with professionals from across the region.
