One of the Outreach and Alumni Team members, Ms. Jasmin Makhlouf, who is also an Assistant Lecturer and BAEPS Alumna’16, held the opening remarks of the session, stressing on the importance of maintaining an active and lively Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ community. Ms. Jasmin then introduced the speakers and their professional accomplishments. Prof. Hadia Fakherldin, Vice Dean for Teaching and Learning, welcomed the three graduates and asked them to share their journey as graduates of the BAEPS faculty. Each of the three speakers described their life after graduation, talking about how they dealt with the challenges of the labour market and what their experiences with the different job places. Each of the speakers also shared their inputs on how their academic studies have prepared them for the labour market and qualified them for being part of it. They all especially emphasised on the critical importance of presentation, research, and analytical skills in their professional journey and stressed on the importance of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ’s philosophy of “Learning how to think, not what to think”.
Ms. Mayada emphasised on the major role played by the organisations she interned with in helping her develop and acquire many of her skills, advising the students to pursue and take advantage of internship opportunities. Ms. Mahy advised undergraduate and post-graduate students to never regret any of the decisions they make with regards to their careers, as she believes that all the decisions she made have aided in preparing her for the position she is part of now. Finally, Ms. Dina provided the students with her insights on the idea of gender equality in the labour market. She encouraged female students to continue pursuing their goals and aims, regardless of any gender-related constraints they face. The discussion was then followed by a Q&A session moderated by Ms. Jasmin, where attendees raised questions to the speakers.
At the end of the Q&A session, Prof. Hadia gave closing remarks, thanking the speakers for sharing their journey and contribution. Additionally, Prof. Hadia affirmed the commitment of the Faculty to enhance the skillset of the students through a portfolio of technical, soft, and practical skills; and therefore the programmes are routinely revised to optimise the engagement and inclusion of students to enrich their educational experience and their future employability.
