The Centre for Egypt and Middle East Studies, founded in 2014, is geared towards underscoring the university’s mission as a Centre of Excellence, a beacon for research and a distinguished University Platform serving Egyptian society and the international system. The Centre allows the University and its Student body to meet and interact with Keynote international Speakers who address a variety of important international and regional subjects by delivering lectures and holding specific conferences and workshops. The topics and the speakers are diversified, pluralistic, and challenging and the steering of these debates including the preparation of summaries and conference reports, is assigned to the student body as a unique training experience for them. Such high-level training and interaction can be added to our student’s CV and increases their employability. The Centre also aims to target disciplines, practical research topics and rigorous paradigms by introducing our students to an expanded world of exchange of knowledge, capacity building and training programs. This is accomplished through the implementation of our several MOUs, especially with our summer training program for our students in the League of Arab States(LAS), as well as attending the Amman International Colloquium as guests of the Colloquium, the Frankfurt Peace Institute, the Union for the Mediterranean, the Arab Parliament, and the Bulgarian Institute for Foreign Affairs...etc.
In addition to this, the Centre strengthens Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ’s International connectivity by signing a variety of twinning, protocol agreements with regional and international institutions that aim at raising the International Profile of the University. The centre has a strong communication base with the diplomatic corps in Egypt, networking with Embassies. For example, the Centre for Egypt and ME Studies has become a member of the Arab Network for Regional Security and Non- Non-Proliferation which entails 30 Research Arab Institutes. The Centre has joined this network in full recognition by the League of Arab States. To exemplify through strong bonds with China and its Embassy in Egypt the center assisted in the establishment of our Science Park as well as introducing Chinese Language in our faculty of Arts.
Last, but not least, the Centre serves as a link between the university and the diplomatic community in all its cultural, educational, and social events to maintain and strengthen the University’s high reputation and the global visibility of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ. CEMES also publishes its CEMES E-Journal Quarterly with academic contributions by world academic figures and leaders addressing challenging and persistent global issues which in turn becomes primary assigned reading to our student body. Since our E-Journal is placed on the net, our scope, mission and contributions in the E-Journal are widely used by students worldwide. The link to the E-Journal:
