Experimental and Behavioural Economics Laboratory (EBEL)
Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ»ÆƬ EBEL
The Experimental and Behavioural Economics Laboratory (EBEL) is a distinctive experimental economics research laboratory in Cairo, Egypt, and one of the very few laboratories in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. EBEL was founded in 2018 in close collaboration with, and with the know-how of, the research laboratory of the University of Hamburg, Germany.
EBEL presents the international research community with a unique student and non-student subject pool with diverse socio-economic characteristics. The pool allows for a cross-country comparison of standing questions in economics and psychology. Furthermore, EBEL’s unique pool opens the door to addressing new questions stemming from a different institutional and cultural setup compared to the much-studied Western World.
Vision
EBEL’s vision is to be a leader in facilitating top-tier behavioural research in Egypt, the MENA region, and worldwide.
Mission
EBEL’s mission is the provision of experimental research resources in behavioural economics and decision making which adhere to the highest international standards of science.
Services
EBEL provides a broad range of services for researchers and educators. This includes:
-Recruitment of student and non-student subjects.
-Running laboratory and online experiments employing EBEL’s subjects’ pool.
-Consultation on cultural-related aspects in experimental and survey designs.
-English to Arabic translation services.
-Training workshops for researchers and educators.
-Short courses for different types of audiences.
